This is an original review of the SmartBidet SB-1000 bidet toilet seat by Jbidet.com. This Japanese-style toilet seat is distributed by Hitrons Solutions in North America, which distributes products of small- and medium-sized businesses of South Korea. Besides Japan, South Korea is the other large maker of toilet seat bidets. Increasingly, we are seeing top-quality bidet seats coming from South Korea, yet they do not have the price tag as you would find with Japanese-made products. Brands like SmartBidet and Brondell are phenomenal Korean brands to look at when you are shopping for a bidet seat. Today, we’re going to take a look at the SmartBidet SB-1000, a feature-packed bidet seat priced around only $250.
Design
First we will take a look at the design of the SmartBidet SB-1000 in terms of its appearance, dimensions, and built.
The SB-1000 has a clean and simple design. However, at first glance it seems a bit clunky at the back. Most bidet seats measure anywhere between 4” to 7” tall at the back, and the SB-1000 is on the tallest end of the spectrum. The SB-1000 is operated by a remote control. At the top of the remote you can adjust the water and seat temperatures, water pressure, and nozzle position. Then there is the stop button, posterior button, feminine button, and turbo button. These are buttons to turn on the wash. There is also a dryer, oscillate, and energy saver button.
The remote control uses 2 AAA batteries, which is quite standard for bidet seat remotes. Some will use 3 AAA batteries or 2 AA batteries.
The SmartBidet SB-1000 is available in two designs: elongated and round. You should be able to see what kind of toilet you have simply by looking at it. Precisely, elongated toilets are about 18.5 inches long from the mounting bolts at the back to the front, and round toilets are about 16.5 inches. Either of these models will fit either your 1 piece toilet or 2 piece toilet. However, the SB-1000 will not fit a French curve toilet, if you have one. We recommend checking with the manufacturer if you’re not sure if this product will fit your toilet.
The elongated version of the SmartBidet SB-1000 measures about one inch longer than the round version. Its dimensions are 20.7” long, 17.3” wide, and 7.13” at the highest point in the back. The round version is 19.4” long. From what we’ve seen, it is a relatively big toilet seat in terms of height and width. Most toilet seat bidets measure anywhere between 15” to 18” wide, and the wider ones usually have an attached remote. So given that this is a remote control operated seat, it seems to be on the wider side. Before buying a seat, we recommend measuring your existing toilet seat to decide whether you would like something more wide or more narrow.
The SmartBidet SB-1000 comes in white.
Features
Given the price of the SmartBidet SB-1000, we were surprised by the many features that you get with this product, like an air dryer, self-cleaning nozzle, three dedicated washes with oscillation, and an Energy Saver mode.
First, let’s talk about the wash settings. There are three dedicated cleansing buttons: Turbo, Feminine, and Posterior. The Turbo spray is a back wash for women, the Feminine is a front wash for women, and the Posterior is a back wash for men. While using these sprays, you can press the Oscillate button and the nozzle will move back and forth for a wider clean. To stop oscillation, you can press the button once more.
The wash settings for the SB-1000 are customizable. You can adjust the nozzle position to 5 different levels, the water temperature to 4 different levels (room temperature, low, medium, and high), the water pressure to 5 different levels, and the dryer to 5 different levels. These kinds of customizable options are pretty standard for bidet seats. You can also adjust the seat temperature to 4 different levels.
Compared to other brands, the SmartBidet doesn’t indicate a precise maximum and minimum water temperature, or temperature for the heated seat, so we’re not able to tell you these like we usually do. We can tell you, however, that the Energy Saver mode maintains a water and seat temperature of 89.6˚F (about 32°C). When you press the button the Energy Saver mode will be on, and when you press is again it will turn off. There isn’t much in terms of customization for the Energy Saver mode.
Before and after each time you use the Turbo, Feminine, and Posterior washes, the nozzle will automatically clean itself. To clean the seat and toilet itself, you can easily pop this bidet seat off.
Lastly, many people ask this question: Do you need a hot water supply? The answer is no. But you will need to plug the seat into an electric outlet. And the toilet seat uses a water tank reservoir – which is one reason why it’s bulkier at the back – to heat water.

Why the SmartBidet SB-1000?
Choosing a bidet toilet seat can be a difficult decision. There are many products on the market and it’s not easy to see what features you get with each product. To help with your decision, we put together some reasons why the SmartBidet SB-1000 might be the one you’re looking for.
You should buy the SmartBidet SB-1000 if:
- You want a bidet toilet seat with a heated seat, warm water, and customizable cleansing
- You want a remote control
- You want a warm air dryer
- You want to save energy through the Energy Saver mode which lowers seat and water temperature
- You have a 3-prong plug near the toilet or are willing to install one
- You want a simple, easy-to-use toilet seat with a clean design
- Your budget is a major concern, but still want plenty of features and a well-performing bidet
Drawbacks
The most important thing we want to mention when you’re thinking about purchasing this bidet is that it has a water tank. Typically, bidet seats use two types of systems to produce warm water. The first system is that they heat water instantly through a coil, and the second system is that they heat and keep warm water in a tank. The SmartBidet SB-1000 keeps warm water in a tank. This kind of system will keep water at your desired temperature all the time, but only up to the amount of water it can hold. Therefore, the drawback would be that you might run out of warm water or that you have to wait for it to fill up again. Also, the tank tends to make the toilet seat bulkier. Whether this is a drawback for you depends on what you prefer. This kind of system works for some people, and they find themselves saving a ton of money because they also tend to be cheaper than models that heat instantly through a coil.
Final Thoughts & Where to Buy
The SmartBidet SB-1000 is a great product with plenty of the same features as you would find in the more advanced bidets, but without the price tag. You should be able to pick one up for about $250. In comparison, products that have similar features start at around $400. It functions by remote control, has customizable wash settings, saves energy, and has a self-cleaning nozzle. If you don’t have any problems with a clunkier bidet that uses a water tank to hold warm water, then this is a great option.
