What is the best Kohler bidet to get?!

Some American brands have certainly caught up to the Japanese when it comes to making bidet seats. Kohler is one of the brands that have taken our attention.

For starters, one of the leading Korean bidet brands “Novita” has merged in 2012 with Kohler, no doubt providing the company with some much-welcomed bidet technology and expertise.

If you’re interested in the bidet seats that Kohler has to offer, then you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to take a look at some of the best Kohler bidet seats available and compare their prices and features so that you can choose the one that’s right for you.

Choosing the Best Kohler Bidet

Before we begin to look at Kohler’s bidets, first consider what you are looking for in a bidet seat. These questions will help you narrow down the choices to the one that best suits you:

  1. Do you want a basic bidet with spray (and perhaps heated seat) only?
  2. Do you want a warm air dryer?
  3. Do you want a remote control or attached control panel?
  4. Do you want advanced features such as deodorizer, night light, or touch screen remote control?
  5. And finally, what is your budget?

Kohler Bidet Seats

Kohler currently has these models for sale: C3-050, C3-125, C3-155, C3-230, and C3-455.

We consider the C3-050 to be a basic bidet seat. The C3-125 and C3-155 are one step up with a few more features. And the C3-230 and C3-455 are what we consider luxury bidet seats.

If you want a bidet seat with just the spray function, then the C3-050 (MSRP: $399) is the one for you. The great thing about this bidet is that it comes with a stainless steel wand, which we like more than the plastic ones for sanitary and durability reasons. For added cleanliness the wand is sanitized automatically by a UV light. There is both a front and rear wash where the water pressure and temperature can be adjusted. And to round things off, the lid of the toilet seat closes quietly – a nice touch.

A major drawback, however, is that it doesn’t have a heated seat, which we suspect is a disappointment for most people since the heated seat is one of the major reasons people buy an electric bidet seat. Nor does it have an air dryer (it is a spray-only bidet).

The C3-125 (MSRP: $599) and C3-155 (MSRP: $899) Kohler bidets balance price and function. With respect to the C3-155, it does everything the basic C3-050 does, plus it has an oscillating and pulsating function for the spray as well as a nightlight, a heated seat, a warm air dryer, and a deodorizer. The C3-125 is the same as the C3-155 except that it doesn’t have a stainless steel wand with UV light sanitization like the C3-050 or C3-155. Also, the C3-125 uses a tank heater which is clunky, whereas the other two have a hybrid water heating system.

(Read our article about the three types of water heating systems – tank, hybrid, and tankless – if you’re not already familiar with them.)

And finally, the C3-230 (MSRP: $1,299) and C3-455 (MSRP: $1,099) are the Kohler bidets that have advanced features.

As you can see, the list price of the C3-455 is the lower of the two. This bidet is similar in every way to the C3-155 mid-range bidet (it also has a stainless steel wand, full-function spray, nightlight, heated seat, warm air dryer, deodorizer, and hybrid heating system). The one difference to the C3-155 is that the C3-455 comes with a remote control, instead of an attached control panel, where you can program user settings for two people.

The C3-230 has the same features as the C3-455, except it operates on a tankless water heating system and it comes with a more advanced touch-screen remote control, which also has the ability to store personalized settings for two people.

Our #1 Pick

Weighing all the pros and cons, our favorite Kohler bidet would have to be the C3-155.

There are many good things going for this bidet seat. For instance, it has a stainless steel wand with UV light sanitation (bidet seats generally have plastic wands). And the adjustable spray includes oscillating and pulsating modes. It also comes with a nightlight, which is a high-end feature that generally only comes with the most expensive bidets. And of course, it has comfort features like heated seat, warm air dryer, and deodorizer – everything you need.

The C3-155 uses a hybrid water heating system so it’s not as clunky as a bidet that uses a tank heater. In fact, we find it comparable to the bidet seats that have tankless water heating systems.

This bidet seat doesn’t have a remote control, but if you can live with that, then the C3-155 really is a great option by Kohler. In our opinion, the nightlight and stainless steel wand are better features to have than a remote control, and for the price, Kohler is definitely taking a run at some of the Japanese bidet companies for their business!
