This is Jbidet.com’s own review of the Toto Washlet C200. We would consider this bidet toilet seat to be an entry-to-mid- level product. In this review, you will be able to read about all its features and come away with an idea of whether or not this is the Washlet for you.
We’re going to start this review by taking a look at the design of the C200 in terms of its appearance, dimensions, and built.
When you shop around for toilet seat bidets, one of the things you would consider is if you want an attached control panel or a remote control. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The Toto Washlet C200 uses a remote control. The control needs two AA batteries to operate and can be hanged on the wall. This can save space. An attached control panel doesn’t require batteries to operate, but it can take up space because it’s attached to the side of the toilet seat. The remote control receiver for the Washlet C200 is located on the top right corner of the toilet seat. Next to it is the LED display for the settings “Energy Saver”, “Seat”, “Water”, and “Power”.
On the front side of the remote, there are the buttons “Stop”, “Rear” cleansing (including “Soft Rear”), “Front” cleansing, “Oscillating” (wand moves back and forth to get a more thorough clean), “Pulsating” (water pressure alternates between soft and strong), and “Dryer”. You can use the remote to adjust the pressure and position of the water and wand during cleansing as well. The one thing worth mentioning about the remote is the personal setting buttons. You can store the preferred wand position, water pressure, and water temperature for two users. On the back side of the remote, there is a display of the temperature settings for water, seat, and dryer, and a “Temp” button to adjust their temperatures. There is also a “Menu” button that you can push to select the settings for “Wand Cleaning”, “Energy Saver”, “Pre-mist”, and “Deodorizer”.
The C200 is available in two designs: elongated and round. You should be able to see what kind of toilet you have simply by looking at it. Precisely, elongated toilets are about 18.5 inches long from the mounting bolts at the back to the front, and round toilets are about 16.5 inches. Either of these models will fit either your 1 piece toilet or 2 piece toilet. However, they may not fit your 1 piece French curve toilet, if you have one. We recommend checking with the manufacturer if you’re not sure.
The elongated version of the C200 measures two inches longer than the round version. Its dimensions are 20 7/8” long, 15 3/8” wide, and 7 3/8” at the highest point in the back. The round version is 18 7/8” long.
The Toto C200 comes in Cotton white or Sedona beige.
There are three dedicated cleansing modes: Rear, Soft Rear, and Front. The Rear spray cleans your rear, the Soft Rear cleans your rear with mild water pressure, and the Front spray is a bidet for ladies. While using each of these sprays, you can turn on the oscillating feature which will move the wand back and forth to wash more thoroughly. By turning on the pulsating feature the water pressure will alternate between soft and strong, which feels as if you’re being given a massage.
The cleansing functions of the C200 Washlet are highly customizable. You can adjust the water pressure and washing position with the buttons located on the left and right side of the remote. They can be adjusted to 5 different water pressures and 5 different positions. You can also adjust the water temperature. The minimum water temperature is 86°F/30°C and maximum water temperature is 104˚F/40˚C. Many years ago, when Toto first designed bidet toilet seats, they discovered that the ideal temperature was 38˚C, give or take 2˚C. Want to know how they came up with this conclusion? Or how they developed the bidet toilet seat? You can read the story here.
One really cool feature for the Toto Washlet C200 is you can program personal wash settings for two different users. As mentioned earlier you can store a user’s choice of wand position, water pressure, and water temperature. To store these settings, simply press and hold “User 1” or “User 2” while cleansing is in progress. When you want to use the settings, you just press the appropriate User that has your settings stored.
The Toto C200 has an air dryer that is customizable as well. You can adjust its temperature from low, which is about 86°F/30°C, to high, which is about 140°F/60°C. The adjustable heated seat has a surface temperature between 82˚F/28˚C to 97˚F/36˚C. You can turn the heated seat completely off or on energy saver mode which sets the seat to about 79˚F/26˚C.
The Energy Saver function is a unique feature of Toto bidet toilet seats. This feature helps conserve energy during times when the toilet is used less frequently or rarely, such as during the night or during the day when you are not at home. The Energy Saver is a smart function. It automatically determines the periods when the toilet is used less frequently and not at all. It takes about 10 days for it to recognize your toilet habits, and it will automatically launch into energy saver mode if you have the setting turned on. During periods of infrequent use, the Toto C200 will lower the toilet seat temperature to save energy. During periods when the toilet is never used, both the heated seat and warm water heater are turned off. If someone happens to use the toilet during this time, the toilet seat heater and warm water heater will turn on, but it will take 15 minutes and 10 minutes respectively to warm up. When the Energy Saver feature is turned on the LED display light will be green. When the feature is actually in Energy Saver mode the light will be orange.
Cleaning the nozzle is easy with a dedicated wand cleaning feature. It’s recommended to clean the nozzle monthly or when you notice dirt. Wand cleaning can be activated through the Menu button on the back side of the remote. The wand will extend and water will be sprayed for cleaning. The wand will automatically retract after five minutes. Use a soft, wet cloth to wipe the wand. Be careful not to pull, push, or press the wand with excessive force as this can cause damage. When you’re finished you can press the Stop button on the front side of the remote and the wand will retract.
This model has a deodorizer. The deodorizer starts as soon as you sit down. It stops two minutes after you stand up. You can turn the deodorizer on/off as you wish. But why would you turn it off? With the deodorizer you wouldn’t notice if someone did #2 right before you used the toilet! Thanks Toto! The deodorizing filter should be cleaned monthly or when you notice odors. Simply unplug the power, remove the filter carefully so not to break it, and scrub with a toothbrush. Make sure it is dry before placing it back in. Then plug the power back. The deodorizing filter is located on the right side (facing the toilet) of the toilet seat.
The Washlet C200 has a pre-mist feature too. The mist is sprayed inside the toilet bowl as soon as you sit down. The function of this mist is to make it more difficult for dirt to adhere. It’s a nice feature to have because you don’t have to scrub the toilet bowl as much. You can also turn the mist on/off as you like.
Finally, many people ask this question: Do you need a hot water supply? The answer is no. The toilet seat heats the water. But you will need to plug the seat into an electric outlet.
Why the Toto C200?
Buying a bidet toilet seat is a huge investment. After all, you’re going to be sitting on it multiple times a year for many, many years. You have to make sure that you get one that suits your needs (which is why you’re reading this, of course!). To help with your decision, we put together some reasons why the Toto Washlet C200 might be the one you’re looking for.
You should buy the Toto Washlet C200 if:
- You want a bidet toilet seat with a heated seat, warm water, and customizable cleansing
- You want a spray with a pulsating “massage” mode
- You want a remote control or a compact toilet seat to save space
- You want a product that can remember a couple of personal cleansing settings
- You want a “smart” toilet seat bidet that helps you save energy
- You want to maintain a clean, odor-free toilet with relative ease
- You want a warm air dryer to minimize the use of toilet paper
- You have a 3-prong plug near the toilet, are willing to install one, or will use an extension cord
- You like the Toto brand and quality
- You want to spend less than $500
We noticed that toilet seat bidets operating via remote can be more difficult to use than the ones with an attached control panel. This could be a drawback for households not too fond of tech gadgets. Besides, you have to replace the AA batteries once in a while. And given the design, the LED indication light for the settings “Energy Saver”, “Seat”, “Water”, and “Power” are located at the back of the seat, which means you have to twist your body around if you want to see them. This can be annoying for some. On the other hand, with an attached control panel, everything is located in one place – on the side of the seat. So while there are reasons why having a remote control is nice, such as saving space, it can be a drawback as well.
Final Thoughts & Where to Buy
The Toto C200 Washlet is a sleek, futuristic toilet seat bidet with amazing features like a pulsating massage mode or the ability to program your wash preferences. It is a much smarter bidet than most of the others in its price range. And rightly so, as it is made by Toto – the inventors of the Japanese style bidet seat. You can buy this product conveniently on Amazon – their prices are unbeatable and you don’t pay for shipping. Plus, depending on where you live, you can hire a handyman on Amazon to do the installation for you.
