Differences Explained

The first major difference between the two bidet seats is the automatic opening and closing of the lid and seat feature. With the s550e, you can have the toilet lid (or the lid and seat) open and close automatically via sensors. This feature can be turned on and off or adjusted in the settings using the touch pad remote.  It is not available in the S500e.

The next major difference is the nightlight. Toto installed a soft light in the S550e that will light up when you move towards the toilet and turn off as you leave. This feature is useful for people who use the toilet at night and don’t want the disruption of a bright bathroom light. The nightlight on the S550e is a gentle light that is bright enough so that you can see. Once again this feature is not available in the S500e.

And finally, there is a price difference (MSRP) of roughly $150 between the two bidet seats. This means that for an extra $150, you can get the auto open lid/seat and nightlight features with the S550e.

We hope this clarifies things between the S500e and S550e and helps with your decision!
